About Fruit Baskets

We began in 1994 as a bricks and mortar retail gift store with the Flemish name Mandjevol. The store, which sold fresh fruit baskets and gift baskets, was recognized by local entrepreneurs as the most creative start-up in the Flemish region of Belgium. Our original store still exists, serving drop-in customers primarily from the surrounding area – however is located seperately from our 1500 square meter gift and fruit basket assembly facility that is amongst others specialised in the delivery of fruit baskets to Germany, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, The United Kingdom and Austria.  The first incarnation of our online fruit gift store was FruitOfCourse.com. FruitOfCourse was selected as one of the top 5 Belgian E-Commerce sites only 10 months after its initial launch. In 2006 we were awarded the silver prize in the B2B Ecommerce Awards (BeCommerce) is leading the Belgian Ecommerce Association). In 2007 we acquired a high-end flower company – allowing us to deliver flowers and flower-gift-creations in 6 countries in Europe from one central facility.

Being fourth generation fruit retailers we have a passion for fruit.   We are always out on the web looking what’s happening in the healthy world or fruits.  Here is some fun fruit stuff:

Fruits in Germany
Germany is a great fruit-growing country with a long history of producing top-quality orchard fruits such as apples and plus. Apples are by far the most widely grown fruit in Germany and judging by the number of German recipes and products containing this delicious fruit it's no surprise that they're also the most popular! From delicious desserts such as apple strudel, apple pancakes and baked apples to spreads like Apfelmuss (apple sauce), apple butter and apple jam to beverages such as apple juice and apple wine, apples can be found everywhere in German cusine. Try these using apples and discover which German apple products are on the market. Germany is currently showing the highest growth with organic fruit.

Fruits in France
France is the thrid largest producer of fruit in Europe. Wine and therefore grapes of course dominate french fruits. However other very important fruits include (in order of importance) apples, peaches (nectarines), pears, abricots, prunes, kiwi, strawberries, grapes (not for wine) and cherries. All fruits we love to use in our fruit baskets. Please find updated information here.
